Our website is done, and as mentioned, at least for me, it was one of those "I really want to have this done, but it's so time consuming and it can be better" sort of thing. I reviewed and revised it many times throughout, making sure the necessary and required points were covered, all the links and buttons were appropriately directed, and everything in between was working as intended.
It was important that our website covered our mission, goals, what we're setting out to do, and why the Better Blood Project was started in the first place. I didn't want to have so much information that viewers were overwhelmed, but didn't want it to be so limited that it left lingering questions.
Regardless of the tedious and time consuming work that went into it, it is done!
Over the course of the past few months, we've learned a lot about the ins and outs of forming and running a successful nonprofit organization. We've been in touch with many foundations, organizations and businesses, and have spent a lot of time researching grants and the grant gifting process. Fortunately, I've been able to rely on a few relationships that were built during my days with the Durham Children's Initiative. One board member in particular has been a wealth of knowledge and insight, and has been able to point me in certain directions to keep moving forward.
Aside from working on this website, much of our time has been spent finalizing our methods of assistance. These methods can all be found here. We did a ton of research on larger health-focused nonprofits that provide forms of financial assistance. We decided to set our assistance amounts as the same as an organization with a next five year budget of $75 million. Of course we won't have as much opportunity to help on a national and/or international scale, but we feel if that's how much assistance they're providing, we can at least match it.
We're incredibly excited to feel like the ball is really rolling, and can't wait to see what will come!
